E.J. Wood was educated at Sydney Grammar School and graduated B. Ec. from the University of Sydney. He served in the 2nd A.I.F. from 1940 until 1945. From 1956 until his retirement in 1973 Wood was an Assistant Secretary in the Department of External Territories.
